Koen Van De Maele

Koen Van de Maele, CFA (born July 3rd, 1977) is Global Head of Investment Solutions, Member of the Executive Committee since October 2017.

He joined Candriam Investors Group in 2001 as Bond Fund Manager and Quantitative Analyst. In 2007 he was appointed Deputy Global Head of Fixed Income and was nominated Global Head of Fixed Income in 2009.

In 2012, Koen Van de Maele created Candriam’s Investment Engineering unit responsible for improving Candriam’s investment processes and the development of tailor-made investment solutions for institutional clients including insurance companies, pension funds, and sovereign wealth funds. Koen is also involved in research regarding Smart Beta and factor investing in equity and cross-asset markets. He coordinated the launch of Candriam’s Smart Beta equity funds and indices.

In June 2016, he became Deputy Investment Officer for Traditional Investments. Koen helps determine Candriam’s overall investment strategy and communicates it to clients, prospects and in the media.

He assumed his current position in October 2017.

Koen Van de Maele lectures ‘Asset Management & Investment Funds’ and ‘Asset Allocation for Institutional Clients’ at the EHSAL Management School in Brussels.

Koen Van de Maele holds a Master of Science in Engineering as well as Industrial Management from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. He is a CFA charter holder since 2005 and is a Member of the Board of Directors of several Sicavs under Luxembourgian law.
