Richard joined Candriam in 2022 as a lead manager of the Candriam Bonds Emerging Debt Local Currencies strategy and a co-lead on the Candriam Bonds Emerging Markets and the Mainstay EMD HC sovereign strategies. He focuses on Latin American, African, and Asian emerging market countries.

Prior to joining Candriam, Richard was a co-manager of hard currency and blended EM sovereign strategies at GAM Investments. Prior to that he was a senior sovereign analyst and strategist at CreditSights, responsible for global emerging markets strategy and sovereign credit research. He started his career as an economist with a focus on emerging Asia at Alliance Trust.

Richard holds a MSc degree in Financial Economics from the University of Glasgow and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Strathclyde Business School. He is a CFA charterholder and has completed the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing.

Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva narrowly won the second round of Brazil’s election, beating incumbent Jair Bolsonaro. Initial fears that Bolsonaro wouldn’t accept the result, particularly if it was tight, have receded. Bolsonaro said that he would follow the constitution and play by the rules, while his chief of staff, acknowledged the defeat.
