A Think Tank to think about a more sustainable world
Launched in autumn 2024, the Think Tank "2030, Investir Demain" was created at the initiative of L'Info Durable (ID) and L'Agefi media, with the ambition of uniting financial players around the major challenges of sustainable finance.
Six working groups have been established, focusing on climate, social and regulatory issues, urbanization and essential resources. Candriam chose to highlight biodiversity - a rich and complex subject that is essential to most of our activities, yet still too often overlooked in business models.
Biodiversity Chair: Proposing concrete solutions to better intergrate biodiversity into business models
As leaders of the biodiversity working group, we approached the initiative as a think tank bringing together investors, companies, scientists and public stakeholders. Our objectives are simple and pragmatic:
- Discuss the challenges we face as investors in integrating biodiversity into our investment processes - and the risks and opportunities it represents.
- Share best practices with other players in the ecosystem.
- Create a collective dynamic to propose concrete solutions focusing on methods for analyzing biodiversity from an investment point of view.
Our experts, Alix Chosson and Elouan Heurard, welcomed experts from a wide range of backgrounds - companies, financial players, NGOs, researchers - to working sessions devoted to the implementation of granular and global analysis that integrates the issues linked to the location of activities. We discussed the following topics:
- Analysis of the impact of economic activities on biodiversity, and of companies' dependencies.
- Models for assessing these impacts and dependencies, with their potential biases and the issues relating to the various indicators.
- The need to anchor any analysis geographically, by integrating the location of company activities.
- The pitfalls encountered in developing scenarios or trajectories.
We'll have more news on this subject soon!
