Now is our opportunity to put the promise of stakeholder capitalism into practice. The Covid-19 pandemic is driving awareness. Although Covid is a humanitarian crisis, it is driving a systematic economic crisis likely greater than that seen in 2008, a very painful – and expensive – illustration of the linkage among ESG factors and investment performance.
Today’s events can help shape tomorrow. The stark lessons of supply chain interruptions should promote a greater emphasis on the “S”, or Society. The role of Engagement with all stakeholders, already growing, will accelerate.
