Candriam announces a strategic evolution of its Emerging Market Equity team, effective 1 February 2024. This realignment coincides with the launch of the Candriam Sustainable Equity Emerging Markets ex-China fund and aims to optimise fund management expertise. In addition, these changes strategically position the team to capitalise on emerging opportunities in the fast-growing Middle East region.
Key changes in the fund management teams are as follows:
Candriam Equities Emerging Markets strategy
- Lamine Saidi, a seasoned Senior Fund Manager with over 20 years industry experience, including 17 years focused on EME at Candriam, will become co-manager of the fund. His deep expertise will be key in capitalising on the new opportunities arising in the fast-growing Middle East region.
- Philip Scrève, Deputy Head and Senior Fund Manager, remains the lead manager, working alongside co-manager, Paulo Salazar, Head of Emerging Market Equities.
- Vivek Dhawan, Fund Manager, will transition out of this strategy in order to focus on his new role as a lead manager on the Candriam Sustainable Equity Emerging Markets ex-China strategy and co-manager of the Candriam Sustainable Equity Emerging Markets strategy.
Candriam Sustainable Equity Emerging Markets strategy
- Galina Besedina, Fund Manager, previously co-manager of the strategy, is promoted to Senior Fund Manager and will assume the role of lead-manager.
- Vivek Dhawan will take on a new role as co-manager, leveraging his 13 years of expertise in emerging markets. He joined Candriam in February 2021, bringing extensive knowledge from both a fundamental bottom-up and sustainable investing approach.
- Paulo Salazar, Head of Emerging Market Equities, will continue be a co-manager.
